Setting goals for learning English is very motivational. I believe that if a learner of English sets up goals to achieve then for sure the learning process will be much simpler. That is because you have a clear picture in your mind of where you want to be after a period of time of learning English.
Usually the beginning of a new year is a good time to set up a long term goal. For instance, you can set up a goal like "this year I will find an English speaking club and I will attend it once a week" or "this year I will keep a daily/weekly personal diary where I write everything is going on", and examples can continue.
Short term goals can be goals to be achieved in a week or a month. You can include here the amount of new vocabulary words you want to learn, a particularly skill you want to practice and improve or a number of English books you want to read. You can also create a to-do-list of English language points you want to learn or practice.
Bear in mind that whatever your goals are they have to be realistic, achievable, and in accordance with your own desires and ambitions.
