Area of an ellipse is calculated as the product of the semi-major axis, semi-minor axis, and Pi (Π = 3.14).

A = Π × R × r

Where *A* is the area, *Π* has a value of 3.14, *R* is the semi-major axis, and *r* is the semi-minor axis.

Example:

If R = 4 units and r = 2 unites then A = ?

A = Π × R × r = 3.14 × 4 × 2 = 3.14 × 8 = 25.12 square units
